6 ways to create a healthier lifestyle



Creating a healthy lifestyle for yourself is not just about eating healthy and exercising – I believe it’s also about creating a healthy mindset too. Making the necessary changes is all up to you though and although it can feel overwhelming, it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. It just all begins with small changes.


Create a sleep schedule and stick to it

Sleep controls your diet, your mood, your productivity and pretty much your overall day. I know I’m not the same person if I’m tired and haven’t gotten enough sleep. Running on as little as 5 hours sleep I know I cannot function at my best. I usually go to bed and wake up around the same time each day and night so my body clock stays in sync.
Did you know that sleep deprivation actually heightens the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke?! Try creating a sleep pattern that works for you and fits into your lifestyle..



Be positive and smile more

What consumes your mind, control your life! With a positive attitude you see the bright side of life, are more optimistic, and feel happier. It is certainly a state of mind and quality that is well worth developing. And remember – you are the company you keep, so surround yourself with these kind of people and let their qualities rub off on you!



Start the morning right

I do believe your morning sets the tone of your day. Starting the day rushed and hurried will leave you feeling stressed and frazzled and won’t be a great start to the day. Instead, make time to get up, make a nutritious breakfast to fuel your body properly for the day, enjoy sitting down to a tea or coffee before getting ready for work or whatever the day entails.
Starting my day in a relaxed way is definitely better than when I’m hurried and have slept in!



Incorporate fitness into your life

Nothing starts my day off better than hitting the gym first up in the morning 5-6 days a week. I know this doesn’t suit everyone, but this is just what works the best for me. I find it really kickstarts my day and keeps me feeling energised day long.
If the gym isn’t for you, something as little as going for a walk will do, or join up to a sporting team or anything that gets your body moving even if it is only for 30 mins. Exercise can reduce stress, boost your energy levels, strengthen your immune system!



Healthier eating habits

Making small changes to your eating habits can make all the difference. Although it is not always easy to change eating and food habits, setting small, attainable changes can help adjust. Things like cutting back on processed foods and loading up on fresh fruit and vegetables, eating more lean proteins and whole grains or perhaps doing a pantry and/or fridge clean out and restocking with healthier alternatives.



Create more happy memories

It’s a proven fact that experiences make us much happier than things. Whether it is travelling to new or old destinations, spending more time with friends or getting out and doing more activities you enjoy, you will be creating memories to look back on and remember as great experiences. A healthy and happy mindset is all it takes to feel happier and fulfilled on the inside.
