So I think it’s about time I shared an insight into my favourite city, the city I grew up in and the city that holds a special place in my heart; the Gold Coast. It is my home after all and I do know the ins and outs of every inch, corner and crevice of the city (it only took a whole 23 years to do so), and so I have decided to share a small insight into some of my favourite cafes down the southern end of the Coast!
There are many cute, hipster, trendy and budding cafes popping up left, right and centre almost all the time, however these special little numbers are ones that I visit regulary, I love and want to share with you all!
Black Sheep Espresso Baa
80 MARINE PARADE, COOLANGATTA QLD 4225, AUSTRALIA
Not only is the location in a prime spot located right by the beach front, but Black Sheep know how to serve up some ground breaking coffee for those coffee enthusiasts. Although this vibrant café’s focus is on coffee, there is also a small food menu serving up gourmet sandwiches and sweets – all made from fresh, quality ingredients!
2 HIBISCUS HAVEN, BURLEIGH HEADS QLD 4220
A popular breaky spot amongst locals is Burleigh Social (located just up from Paddock Bakery). You can expect a great variety of high quality food options as well as some seriously delicious acai and coconut bowls. On a sunny day, this place is such a great spot to soak up the sunshine in the outdoors!
Iron and Resin Garage
6 STEWART RD, CURRUMBIN WATERS QLD 4223
This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like motorcycles, old school cars and southern American style decor, you’ll love this place! As well as being a cafe, they also sell motorcycle merchandise etc and often have live music on weekends. It’s really just a laid back spot to hang with a group of friends on the weekend – they’re breakfast burgers are also really good!
IKKINA ROAD, BURLEIGH HEADS, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA
Hidden Perk is nestled right across the highway from Tallebudgera Beach along the Gold Coast Highway and although a small café, here you can expect some of the cheapest breaky eats on the Gold Coast. The menu is simple but tasty and great value for money.
443 GOLDEN FOUR DRIVE, TUGUN 4224, AUSTRALIA
Caribou in Tugun is only a short stroll from the beach and is loved by the locals for their great value for money eats, friendly staff and delicious food. The smashed avocado is a personal favourite as is the milk infused chai tea!
JAMES STREET, BURLEIGH, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA
Right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of James St in Burleigh, Social Brew is perched right down one of the alleyways. Come on an empty stomach and fill up on the tantalising desserts and breaky options off the menu. I will admit I am very partial to their teas that come in a black ceramic tea pot and bright yellow cup..umm cute right?! This place wont blow a hole in your pocket either..it’s great value for money.
1844 GOLD COAST HWY, BURLEIGH HEADS, QLD 4220, AUSTRALIA
Commune pride themselves on fresh produce and healthy living with options on the menu that dictate just that. Not only is the food (and juices) amazing, but the ultra funky furniture and outdoor décor is super cool too.
Niche & Co
449 GOLDEN FOUR DR, TUGUN QLD 4224
Love Acai Bowls?! Well look no further! Niche and Co arguably have some of the best flavour Acai Bowls on the Coast that wont disappoint. Alas, if you’re into health, fitness and alternative yummy raw desserts, protein balls and turmeric lattes, this place will be your haven: they simply cater for it all.
776 PACIFIC PARADE, CURRUMBIN QLD 4223, AUSTRALIA
Right by Currumbin Creek, The Boatshed is undeniably in a perfect location, with water views no matter where you sit.
The cheap menu, great coffee and quality food are some of the reasons I love it so much but of course the ambient surroundings are another big factor.
HIBISCUS HAVEN, MIAMI QLD 4220, AUSTRALIA
I absolutely adore Paddock Bakery! This cute farmhouse of a café is a very special little number unique only to the Gold Coast and arguably one of the best (maybe I am a little biased though!) The ambient café makes you feel as though you are in a cute country town with the pitted fence out the front, little veggie patch garden and beautiful furniture décor. Everything is baked fresh and daily and using their handmade wood oven!
Oh, and should I point out that this particular café is none other than Hugh Jackman’s’ favourite café on the Coast, having visited numerous times!
