Milk infused Chai tea and I go way back…seriously though, my love affair for chai is on another level. It was so rare find any café on the GC that would do them or even know what I was talking about, however fortunately now, more and more local Gold Coast cafes are now serving up some pretty epic pots of Chai!
Here are some of my favourite spots to check out on the Gold Coast..If you have any favourites, I would love to know!!
It’s no secret I am pretty fond of Paddock and yeah, not only is the food really good, they serve up a great pot of sticky chai tea! The atmosphere here is definitely one of the better spots to enjoy a cuppa by the quaint pitted fence and garden area outside. You really feel like you have escaped the city for the countryside for a brief moment here. Also, be sure to get here early on weekends to avoid having to wait for a seat or better yet, go on a weekday where it is usually a lot less busy and more relaxing!
Where: Hibiscus Haven, Miami QLD 4220
The Shelf Deli Cafe
The shelf is located in the Pines Shopping Centre, so although the atmosphere isn’t so great, it is still worth stopping by if you are ever down that end of the coast in Elanora. The staff are always really friendly and they have always got lots of little homemade sweet and savoury goodies in their front cabinet to make a refreshing morning tea.
Where: Shop 31, The Pines Shopping Centre, Elanora QLD 4221
Not only do I love the Breakfast at Caribou (its cheap and delicious FYI), if you like your chai stronger, you’ll love the blend at Caribou. Smooth with a hint of aniseed..it’s the perfect day starter.
Where: 443 Golden Four Dr, Tugun QLD 4224
Feather & Docks
Where: 1099 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach QLD 4221
You’ll get bang for your buck at Feather and Docks with their large pot sizes…you could share one pot between two people for sure! And while you’re here, check out the small selection of kickass gluten free treats and goodies in the cabinet.
Where: Shop 1/2685 Gold Coast Highway Broadbeach, QLD 4218
Although Cardamom Pod specialise in Vegetarian and plant based food, they have got a great chai tea selection to pick from: Dandelion, Byron, The Pod chai & White/Dark Chocolate Chai …now who doesn’t love choice?!!
Where: 34-36 James St, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220
Social Brew have a sweeter blend of chai with a hint of spice. The menu here is really cheap with decent food and with their array of sweet cabinet slices you can’t go wrong here. I also love the ultra cool black teapots and bright yellow cups they use here too!
Where: 1844 Gold Coast Hwy, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220
Commune has been a popular breakfast and lunch café amongst locals for a long time and not only is it the colourful and vintage décor that lures you in but the food ( and tea of course) is pretty damn good. I suggest going with the expectation to eat something off the menu and try one of their chai teas while you’re at it. They are trendy but without going too over the top!
Where: 1/43 Tallebudgera Creek Rd, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220
This little hidden gem is located just off the highway in Burleigh and could easily be mistaken for a little timber house than a café! This one was of the first places I tried a milk chai tea on the Gold Coast, and they still are serving them up just as good. The tea pot sizes are a very considerable size for the money you pay and you could easily get 3 cups out if it!
The Coffee and Tea Factory
Where: 2-32 Hooker Blvd, Broadbeach QLD 4218 , Shop 1527
The Coffee and Tea Factory are only a new addition to Pacific Fair but already have a ripe reputation to live up to for serving up some of the countries best specialty teas and coffee..and let me tell you, the chai here is deliciously creamy, smooth and basically, they live up to their already booming reputation!
