How to make: my favourite chocolate smoothie bowl! (with variations)


I am currently so obsessed with smoothie bowls I’m having them most mornings for breakfast! Not only do they taste delicious and are super easy to make, for me, they really make the perfect post gym breakfast. They are loaded with plenty of protein, a good dose of carbs and a handful of healthy, nourishing ingredients to accompany.

I feel like I could never get bored of smoothie bowls, especially in these Summer months. But what I love most is that you can always change up the flavours by using different ingredients to create something just as good.


When smoothie bowls are life


Base Ingredients

What you need:

3 tbsp. chocolate protein powder
1 tbsp. cacao powder
1 frozen banana *frozen banana makes it a thicker, more ice cream like consistency
1 tsp. vanilla essence (optional)
Dash of milk or water *coconut water is also a really great alternative


Variation 1 –

Sometimes I love to add in peanut butter – just coz i love peanut butter! Any nut butter would do just fine though..

– 1-2 tbsp. peanut butter


Variation 2 –

When I feel like a coffee hit, I like to add instant coffee for an extra boost, especially in the morning sometimes I feel like I need it.


Variation 3 –

I LOVE acai, so if I’ve got any Amazonia acai packs I will blend one into my smoothie bowl and just like that, I’ve got a cheat acai bowl!


To sprinkle on top

This is where the fun happens! You can sprinkle whatever tickles your fancy over the top of these bowls, using just one or a few things…
shredded/desiccated coconut, cacao nibs, chia seeds, goji berries, fruit & granola all work really well 🙂
