After travelling through Oahu and Kauai next stop was Maui, and to be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect or how Maui could possibly equal in comparison to the adventures and experiences we’d just had on the other two islands…but I was pleasantly surprised!
Maui certainly left a lasting impression on both Grant and I after only a short few days there and I already cannot wait to head back over! The island was so beautiful, a little more quiet (and less touristy) than Oahu yet busier than Kauai – it was just right. Some of our major highlights of the Island were driving our hire car through Hana Highway, up to Haleakala Crater and some other secret hideouts that we found by accident!
We arrived in Maui and checked into our hotel at dusk just on time to check out the sun going down.
Mid Hana Highway drive! Such an incredible stretch of road through forest and ocean views….
And off up to Haleakala Crater we go….
Reaching the summit 10,000 ft above sea level was absolutely mind blowing!
We experienced the temperature dramatically drop into the near minus’s (which I totally wasn’t prepared for in my summer clothing!) and it got dark very quick…
